Phoenixville Pair Making Mark in NCAA Field Hockey
Marie Elena Bolles and Miranda Petro are winning games and racking up honors.
Out of the borough and on the collegiate playing fields, a pair of Phoenixville residents are making their mark in NCAA field hockey, The Mercury is reporting.
After being named All-Big East and All-Mideast Region as a sophomore last season, UConn’s Marie Elena Bolles—a Phoenixvile-bred Villa Maria grad—was named Big East Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight time. Bolles, who was also the conference’s preseason Player of the Year, has six goals on the season for the Huskies.
Meanwhile, Alvernia senior Miranda Petro scored a goal in the team’s 4-0 season-opening win over York College.
