Phoenixville Football Honoring the Troops

The team will host "Operation American Pride" military appreciation night on Sept. 7.

While the “football as warfare” analogies get tired pretty quickly each fall, the Phoenixville Phantoms football team is using an upcoming gridiron battle as an occasion to give real thanks to those who have served.

At its September 7 home game against Exeter Township High School, the Phantoms will celebrate “Operation American Pride”; a military appreciate night that will pay tribute to all local servicemen, active and retired.

Military personnel will get free admission to the game and are invited to participate in a host of activities throughout the evening designed to celebrate their sacrifice. The festivities will include a color-guard, patriotic music, and a special half-time ceremony where the soldiers, past and present, will be honored by all attendees for their service, including representatives from state and local government.

Pregame, the servicemen will be invited to form a tunnel through which the team will run.

All attendees are asked to wear red, white, and blue or camouflage clothing to the game. Spectators are asked to come to Washington Field by 6:30 p.m., with kickoff at 7 p.m.
