Renaissance Volleyball Scores Big

A young Renaissance Academy Team powers past the competition to win a chance to play for the league championship.

The Renaissance Academy Lady Knights volleyball team is moving on to the Tri-County Independent School League Finals Friday after defeating the Woodlynde School in a 3-0 shutout Wednesday at home..

Lady Knights was Captain, Carrie Baker was the leading Renaissance scorer with 4 kills, 2 aces and 2 blocks.  Freshman Alina McCain added 4 kills and 2 aces. Co-Captain and setter Shannon McGurty kept her offense going with 5 assists.

Lady Knights Coach Holly Mandia says she is proud of her team.  “This young team is comprised of mostly freshman and sophomores; however, they are capable of winning the championship. As long as the girls play a tough mental game and play one point at a time, there will be no stopping them.”

The Lady Knights will face off against the West Mont Academy Wings in the championship match Friday.  The match will be played at The Perkiomen School, 200 Seminary Street, Pennsburg, PA, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
