Summer Job Lookout: Phoenixville Kmart Hiring Teens “All Summer”

We are scouring the town for summer jobs for high school kids.

Summer jobs for high school kids, like the “job” jobs many of their parents vainly seek, are few and far between these days. But not at , where manager Paula told Patch that they will be hiring kids of 16-and-up all season.

Though the jobs pay minimum wage, there are plenty of them. The manager says Kmart will be reviewing applications once a week, and will be filling–with local teens–sales floor and cashier positions, primarily.

“It depends on the student's experience and aptitude,” said the manager.

According to the manager, anyone interested in applying can stop by the Nutt Road store and complete an application on one of its computer portals, or head over to Kmart.com and:

  • Select “Careers” from the “About Kmart” tab at the bottom of the page.
  • Select “Search for Jobs” under “Hourly and Entry Level Jobs.”
  • Select “Apply for Kmart Store Hourly Jobs”
  • Complete a series of questions regarding work history and a one-hour long assessment of the teen's abilities.

Paula said that those who don’t pass the written assessment can reapply again in 120 days.
