Alex’s Lemonade Coming to Charlestown Hunt This Weekend

The Ray family is hosting a stand on Saturday.

When Jared Ray was five-years old, he saw the story of Alexof Alex’s Lemonade fameon the news and asked his mother if they could host a stand.

She said yes, but because she and her husband were saddled with three children under five at the time, and both had challenging careers–she was an RN while he spent a lot of time on the road–it took them a year and a half, and some more prodding from Jared, before she made good on the promise.

They haven’t stopped since.

Brian and Lisa Ray and their children Jared, now 11, Karlee, 8, and Jaxson, 6, will be hosting their fourth stand on June 9 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Stewart’s Court in Charlestown Hunt. The matriarch said their involvement with the charity that raises funds to fight pediatric cancer been a rewarding experience for the whole family.

“My children love doing it. They make the posters, bake cookies and muffins, and get their friends to come out and support the stand,” Lisa Ray, a former oncology nurse, wrote Patch in an email.

Ray added that her daughter Karlee’s birthday is on June 27, and instead of gifts from friends she asks for donations for Alex’s Lemonade stand.

“We are fortunate that we have not had this illness strike our family,” she said, “but we know that if it should we are helping to find the cure.”
