Charlestown Hunt Hosts Alex's Lemonade Stand

On June 11 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the community of Charlestown Hunt will host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

Lisa Ray, the event coordinator, has hosted the lemonade stand in their community for the past three years.

“I heard about this on the news several years ago and told my 6-year-old son about this amazing story,” Ray said. “He was duly impressed and wanted to host a lemonade stand.”

As she had three young children and a career, it took a lot of persistence on her son’s part to get the event off the ground. After a year and a half of his relentless badgering, Ray was able to get her first lemonade stand up and running.

“We chose to do one at the same time as our , in order to get more traffic,” Ray said. “The community has been very supportive and have arranged for the garage sale to be on the same weekend as Lemonade Days.”

Charlestown Hunt is just one of the many communities that will participate in Alex’s Lemonade Stand’s national fundraising weekend. The development is located off of Route 29 (Google “101 Fairfax Ct., Phoenixville” to find directions).

Ray comes from a medical background, working as an RN and having a passion for children’s health.

“I truly loved being an oncology nurse and so this was a perfect fit for my family,” Ray said. “This year my daughter is accepting donations for the Alex's Lemonade Stand for her eighth birthday in lieu of gifts. I am so lucky to have three beautiful, healthy children and we only hope to help change the lives of those who are a little less fortunate with their health.”

The lemonade stand will happen in conjunction with the Charlestown Hunt Garage Sale today, Sat., June 11. Check out this page for more information.
