Magoo Seeks a Good Home

This week’s rescue pet of the week has quite a story and could really use a home. His foster mom Ashley takes in dogs for the Animal Care and Control Team division of the Philadelphia SPCA. Unfotunately, the shelter is full to capacity.

"My foster dog Magoo is in need of a good home so that I can take another dog out of the shelter into foster care and save another life. Here is some info on Magoo. His story is a real heartbreaker.

“Magoo is a 1-year-old male Bulldog mix. He is a gorgeous white with brown spots on his ears and weighs 50 pounds. This boy has had a super rough start to his life. He was born with a condition called Entropion where the eyelids curl into the eyeball causing constant irritation from his lashes and skin rubbing against his eyeballs.

“As if having spent his entire life with this constant pain and irritation wasn't enough, Magoo was apparently also used as a bait dog in a fighting operation of some sorts. His head, face and neck are all covered in bite wound scars as well as evidence of human-inflicted scarring on his body.

“Despite all of the atrocious things Magoo has endured, he is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. He prances through the world with his head in the air and his tail wagging so hard that his entire rear end wiggles with it.

“He loves other dogs as well as pretty much anyone and anything else he can come across. He is housebroken and working on crate training and basic commands but we don't want to push him into too much at once until he has some time to adapt to being a 'dog' for the first time in his life and also recover from his surgery.

“He had corrective eye surgery Feb. 23 and was neutered at that time. We can only imagine that being able to actually see for the first time in his life will turn Magoo into a totally different dog, and since he's already amazing, one can only imagine what that will be like! He is up to date on all of his vaccinations and will also be microchipped prior to adoption.
