Viewfinder: Blue Skies for Bark for Life in Reeves Park

This was the most successful Bark for Life event ever held in Phoenixville, with 119 dogs participating.

Blue skies and sunshine, along with unseasonable warmth, had tails wagging at Sunday's Bark for Life event.

A prelude the "human walk" that will be held in May, the Bark for Life helps raise funds for the American Cancer Society and is part of Relay for Life-Phoenixville.

Jamie Gold of the American Cancer Society announced to a crowd of dogs and owners that this was the most successful Bark for Life Phoenixville has ever had.

"Isn't it great?" said April Klotzbach, one of the Bark for Life co-chairs.

Carly Bonanno, owner of Brady, was surprised with the honor of being named grand marshal of the two-lap dog parade around the park. Carly helped raise more than $300 for the American Cancer Society.

Other top fundraisers were Smokey and Bandit Clay, raking in $848, and Pippi Kawalec-Newman, bringing in $405. In all, the event raised $5,500.

The day also featured a Doggie Costume Contest, which many of the pups participated in. In addition, All 4 Paws Rescue was on hand with rescue dogs that people could "rent" for the laps around the park.
