For the seventh consecutive year, Barkley Elementary students have put their artistic skills to good use, creating beautiful handcrafted bowls to be used at the Empty Bowls Supper this Friday, November 8th.  Empty Bowls will support the hungry in our community, by raising money for PACS—Phoenixville Area Community Services.  Professional potters and other crafters, along with the students have created hundreds of bowls to be used for the simple meal of soup and bread.

Barkley Art Teacher, Karen Ewerth, works with the 4th grade students to design these works of art.  The students make one bowl to donate, and one bowl to take home.  Familiar patterns of flowers or smiley faces or even animals can be found on the original creations.  Approximately 100 bowls from Barkley will be on display at the supper.

Each year the event draws hundreds of community members who want to support the efforts.  This year’s supper will be at the Kimberton Fire Hall on Kimberton Road from 4:30 – 8:30 PM on Friday evening.  Tickets are $20 for adults (ticket price includes a bowl for you to take home), and $10 for children under 12 years of age (no bowl comes with the children’s ticket).  Tickets will be available at the door.
