Someone smashed a basement window to enter a local house, police say.
East Pikeland Police are searching for a culprit or culprits in a burglary that happened sometime Monday or Tuesday. According to police, "someone entered a home in the first block of Ruth Avenue by breaking a basement window. They removed cash, cell phone and a wallet." Anyone with information about the burglary should send an anonymous e-mail to East Pikeland police or call the police station at 610-935-0606.

The woman's troubles began when the officer asked for her license and registration.
A 24-year-old Phoenixville woman is facing charges of receiving stolen property following a traffic stop by East Pikeland Police. East Pikeland police charged the woman from Third Avenue in Phoenixville "with receiving stolen property after she was stopped for being in possession of a stolen Pennsylvania registration." According to East Pikeland police, she was processed and released pending a hearing at a later date.

Aggravated Assault On Saturday at approximately 4 a.m., East Pikeland Police received a report of a fight between a father and son on the unit block of Bonnie Brae Road. After a brief investigation, police say, they arrested a 22-year-old resident of the home and charged him with aggravated assault, possession of instruments of crime, unlawful restraint, simple assault, recklessly endangering another, harassment. Thomas Gochal said he was "just eating lunch," according to police.
A Reading man faces drug charges after East Pikeland Police say he was busted smoking pot on his lunch break in a parked car on Hares Hill Road. Thomas Gochal, 47, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and disorderly conduct stemming from the November 21 incident. According to court documents, at 12:53 p.m. an East Pikeland police officer saw a car parked suspiciously, facing away from traffic, in an open lot just across from the Iron Bridge. The officer pulled into the lot and made contact with the driver, Gochal, who explained that he was “just eating lunch.” The officer smelled marijuana and searched Gochal, who denied possessing any illegal drugs. Retail theft at Redner’s On October 12 at approximately 11a.m., East Pikeland Police responded to the Redners located on the 200 block of Schuylkill Road for a retail theft. Officers responded and arrested Ayannamad Madia Barbee (Miles) from 401 Lenz Lane, West Berlin, NJ for not paying for some deli items, a soft drink, and a doughnut. A man and a woman from Long Island were busted in Phoenixville on Thursday after a fake credit card scam went awry, East Pikeland Police are reporting. Ramon Dennis Butler, 20, and Elisa Chantel Akins, 20, each face 84 felony counts of using an access device that is counterfeit, altered, or incomplete, conspiracy to use an access device that is counterfeit, altered, or incomplete, receiving stolen property, and forgery, plus an additional 16 counts each of theft by deception and retail theft. A 22-year-old Phoenixville man was arrested last week after he crashed his car into a utility pole while he was intoxicated, East Pikeland Police are reporting. Andrew Salvitti stands charged with careless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. According to court documents, on August 19 at 11:08 p.m., an East Pikeland police officer was dispatched to a one-car accident on Coldstream Road. When he arrived at the scene, he saw a white Suburu Legacy crashed into a utility pole. Both the vehicle and the pole were badly damaged.
