Ever wonder what a day in the life of a police officer is like? Wonder no more. On April 13, the East Pikeand Police Department is inviting residents to get a crash course in law enforcement with its Citizen Police Academy. According to the department: The Citizen Police Academy is designed to give citizens an overview of the East Pikeland Township Police Department. Graduates of this course will have a better understanding of the operation of the Police Department, and a greater awareness and appreciation of the daily challenges faced by the East Pikeland Township Police Department.  Graduates will not be certified as police officers. Drunken Driver Hits Mowere Bridge, Police Say

East Pikeland Police are still looking for the person who gave the man a ride home.

The following incidents were reported by the East Pikeland Police Department. Arrest, when mentioned, does not suggest conviction. Bridge Crash On Wednesday at about 11:45 p.m., East Pikeland Police charged a 48-year-old Phoenixville man with DUI after the department says he crashed into a bridge on Mowere Road. After striking the bridge, the driver was given a ride home by a passerby, according to police. The department is attempting to find the driver of the vehicle who gave him a ride. Police say they don’t want to charge the driver, only to speak with him or her. Anyone with information can contact East Pikeland Police at 610-935-0606. Cop Visits One Apartment, Issues Drug Charge in Another, Police Say

An East Pikeland Police officer says he spied a glass pipe through an open window while on an unrelated visit.

A 26-year-old Phoenixville man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia late last month after an East Pikeland Police officer, while making a visit to an apartment adjoining his, spotted a glass pipe through his open window, the department is reporting. According to court documents, on Feb. 26 at 5:20 p.m., an officer stopped by an apartment on the 500 block of Deer Run Lane to investigate a separate incident. While the officer was on the porch waiting to be admitted to the residence, he spotted a glass marijuana pipe sitting in “plain view” in the defendant’s kitchen, police say. Police: Man Arrested for Drug Dealing Brags to Police About Drug Dealing

“Mad props is me flipping my stash for five Gs last night,” the man allegedly told an officer.

A 20-year-old Phoenixville man allegedly bragged about his drug dealing abilities to an East Pikeland Police officer after he was arrested on multiple drug charges earlier this month. According to court documents, on January 11 at 3:06 p.m., Randy Ramraju was pulled over on the 500 block of Kimberton Road for driving with a broken brake light. The officer immediately smelled marijuana upon approaching the vehicle, and asked Ramraju if he was in possession of the drug. The man denied it initially, but then, when asked again, reached into his driver’s side door pocket and pulled out a clear plastic bag containing what the officer identified as marijuana. East Pikeland Police Warn Parents About 'Weed Candy'

The department is warning parents about the possible spread of THC-laced candy.

The East Pikeland Police Department warned parents last week via a post on its Facebook page that a new form of drug delivery has been seen in the area and parents should be careful about kids having items that could be laced with drugs.  A report on WPVI Channel 6's website says that candy made with THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, was found recently in Upper Merion Township. Upper Merion Police Detective Andrew Rathfon told 6ABC that a parent brought them the candy and asked to have it tested.  Rathfon also said that the candy could be laced with other drugs or hazardous material. It's often made in someone's home, so people who ingest it are "trusting whoever made that substance. It's scary."  The main concern is that it offers …

Police: Drunk Driver Barreled Over Signs, Led Police on Short Chase

Police say the driver ignored orders to pull over.

A Phoenixville woman was arrested for DUI last week after East Pikeland Police say she ran over a pair of street signs and led them on a brief car chase. Shonda Marie Gelormo, 29, faces charges of DUI, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, accidental damage to unattended vehicle or property, reckless driving, careless driving, and criminal mischief stemming from the November 30 incident. According to court documents, at 2:14 a.m. an East Pikeland Police officer witnessed Gelormo, driving a blue Ford Explorer, veer off the eastbound lane of Schuylkill Road in the area of Valley Forge Shopping Center and plow over a pair of road signs. East Pikeland Police Report Weekend DUI Arrests

The department made arrests on Friday and Saturday night.

The East Pikeland Police Department made a pair of DUI arrests over the weekend, the department reported in a recent release. Philip Hughes, 42, of Devon, was charged with D.U.I. on Saturday December 1 at 8 p.m. The defendant was observed by an officer in the Wawa store acting suspicious and was stopped by police after leaving the store. He was processed and released pending a hearing at a later date and time. Adam Scott Kevra, 43, of the unit block of Robarts Drive in Phoenixville, was charged with D.U.I. on Friday November 30 at 9:20 p.m. after being observed driving on the 500 block of Kimberton Road without the lights of his vehicle on. He was processed and released pending a hearing at a later date and time.

East Pikeland Police Charge Woman, 64, With DUI

Police say they received report on October 24 that an "erratic" driver was on the road.

East Pikeland Police charged a near senior citizen with DUI on Wednesday after they say they received a radio call that she was driving erratically. According to the department, at 2:30 p.m. on October 24 it received word that an erratic driver was headed for Lincoln Road. They subsequently pulled over Kayla Evan, 64, and, in the course of their investigation, discovered she was under the influence of alcohol and charged her with DUI. She was released pending a hearing at a later date and time.

Retail theft at Redner’s On October 12 at approximately 11a.m., East Pikeland Police responded to the Redners located on the 200 block of Schuylkill Road for a retail theft. Officers responded and arrested Ayannamad Madia Barbee (Miles) from 401 Lenz Lane, West Berlin, NJ for not paying for some deli items, a soft drink, and a doughnut. When asked for her name she reported to the arresting officer a false name. She was charged with false ID to law enforcement and retail theft. A summons will be sent by Judge Michaels. DUI on Hares Hill Road On October 12 at approximately 8:37 p.m., East Pikeland Police received a report of an accident on Hares Hill Road at Camp Counsel.
