Who Does the Most to Help Phoenixville Kids?

The Kiwanis Club is accepting nominations through April 17 for its annual Youth Service Award.

The Kiwanis Club of Phoenixville supports organizations that support kids. To that end, on April 24, the group will present its annual Youth Service Award to the local non-profit or committee in the greater Phoenixville area that has done the most to further the educational, financial, or physical advancement of area youth.  The Kiwanis are accepting nominations for the $1,000 award through April 17. Applications can be obtained from the Chamber of Commerce or by contacting Kiwanis President Larry Gubanich at 610-935-1383 or emailing him at lgubanich@comcast.net.  The award will be presented at the Phoenixville Area Chamber of Commerce banquet.

Kiwanis Club Holding Annual Holiday Parade

The route has been changed this year.

The Kiwanis Club of Phoenixville will be holding its annual Holiday Parade in Phoenixville on “First Friday”, December 7, 2012 beginning at 7 p.m. The parade route has been changed from prior years. This year’s parade will begin at the Justice Building on Bridge Street and continue on Bridge Street ending at Starr Street. Santa Claus will arrive with the help of the Phoenixville Area High School Marching Band. The parade line-up also includes a Mummers string band, several floats from area civic and service groups. Area fire companies participate with decorated fire engines as they compete for the “Best Decorated Fire Engine” award. Approximately 25 children’s characters will also be in the parade. Kiwanis Club Keeps Entertaining in Summer's Dog Days

The group has a slate of performers lined up.

Summer entertainment for children, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Phoenixville, continues to feature a wide array of entertainers.  This Saturday’s program will feature vocalist and keyboard artist Bruce Fagan. The August 18 entertainer will be “Pokie-Poke the Jongleur,” a talented musician and juggler. On Saturday, August 25, the “Amazing Vindini” will entertain with a fascinating mix of magic, comedy and juggling. The summer entertainment series concludes on Saturday, September 1 with musician Mike Schuler who will perform with guitar and several other musical instruments.
