“I Love You Bro” Say Alleged Phoenixville Shooters After Hearing

Shawn Nafeese Duell is alleged to have shot James “Mack” Brown in Phoenixville on May 8.

James “Mack” Brown, 18, the Phoenixville man who was shot in the groin on May 8 in an apparent drug deal gone awry, took the stand to face his alleged shooter and his co-conspirator at a preliminary hearing on Thursday, The Mercury is reporting. Brown, who admitted he didn’t remember much because he was “high” at the time of the crime, testified that he got in a car the afternoon of the shooting with Shawn Nafeese Duell, 20, and Garrett Sterner, 19, with the intention of finding them marijuana. It soon became clear to him that wasn’t Duell or Sterner’s plan. This is the same kid that was a passenger in the auto accident several years ago where two kids died when they were all high. Too bad he wasn't incarcerated then, It might have saved his future. But everyone [especially the DA] just concentrated on the driver and not the other passengers who contributed to the horrible crash.   more ›

Alleged Pa. House Hotel Shooter Has Outburst in Court

The alleged gunman in the May 8 shooting of a Phoenixville teenager in the parking lot of The Pennsylvania House Hotel had an outburst in court on Tuesday afternoon during a hearing related to a separate shooting he committed in Pottstown, according to The Mercury. Shawn Nafeese Duell, during testimony related to his April 15 shooting of a Pottstown man and his mother–both of whom survived–was ordered from the courtroom by Judge Edward Kropp after going on an expletive-laden tirade. UPDATE: Charges Filed in Pa. House Hotel Shooting

Two men arrested in Pottstown on Friday were charged Wednesday afternoon.

Shawn Nafeese Duell, 20, of Lower Pottsgrove, and Garrett Thomas Sterner, 19, of Pottstown, have been charged by Phoenixville police for their roles in the May 8 shooting of a teen in the parking lot of the Pa. House Hotel, Sergeant Joseph Nemic told Patch in an email. Duell, believed to be the gunman, and Sterner, the alleged driver of the silver Nissan sedan the victim, James “Mack” Brown, was shot inside of, are facing multiple charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, robbery, possession of a prohibited firearm, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, receipt of stolen property, and assault with a deadly weapon.
