Flour Recalled for Blue Balls

Bags of flour are being recalled because they may contain small blue polyurethane balls.

  Check your kitchen if you buy King Arthur flour. The company is recalling certain 5 pound bags due to the possible presence of small (7-9 mm) blue polyurethane balls, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reports. The balls are used during the sifting process. The balls are made from food-grade material, measure about half the diameter of a dime and are easily seen due to their blue color, according to King Arthur Flour. Bread Recalled For Possible Wire

Eight different types of bread are being recalled due to a faulty screen.

The Bimbo Bakeries companies are voluntarily recalling select bread products due to the possible presence of flexible wire in the bread caused by a faulty screen at a third party flour mill, according to a release from the company. Multiple products with "Best By" dates prior to and including Feb. 20 are being recalled in Pennsylvania, including the following: According to the release, consumers who have purchased the recalled product can return the product to its place of purchase for a full refund. Baby Spinach Recalled Over Potential E. Coli Contamination

Organic baby spinach being recalled may be contaminated with Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli.

Taylor Farms Retail is voluntarily recalling select Organic Baby Spinach products with the potential to be contaminated with Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli, or EHEC, according to a news release from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. EHEC is a strain of E. coli. Symptoms of the diseases caused by EHEC include abdominal cramps and diarrhea that may in some cases progress to bloody diarrhea. Fever and vomiting may also occur. Multiple products are being recalled, but the only one sold in Pennsylvania and included in the recall is Taylor Farms Organ Baby Spinach 16 oz. trays. Glass Scare Prompts Lean Cuisine Recall

Three consumers reported finding glass in their ravioli.

The following information is provided by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration: Nestlé Prepared Foods Company today announced the voluntary recall of two production codes of LEAN CUISINE® Culinary Collection Mushroom Mezzaluna Ravioli, UPC 13800-58358. The production codes are 2311587812 and 2312587812; the “best before date” appears as DEC 2013. The voluntary recall is limited to these two days of production, which were distributed nationwide. No other production dates, sizes or varieties of LEAN CUISINE products are affected by this recall. The reason for the recall is that the meal may contain fragments of glass. RECALL: Top Loading Washing Machines for Risk of Major Injury

LG and Kenmore Elite top loading washing machines are being recalled for posing a risk of major injury.

LG is recalling approximately 457,000 of its top loading washing machines due to risk of major injury. According to the recall notice, an unbalanced load can cause the washing machine to shake excessively and the drum to come loose during use; posing a risk to consumers and a risk to property damage in the surrounding area. There have been at least 343 reports of machines vibrating excessively, of which 187 have involved minor property damage. The recall includes three LG and three Kenmore Elite brand, top-loading washing machines manufactured between February 2010 and November 2011 and come in beige, white and graphite steel colors. RECALL: High-Powered Magnet Toys for Ingestion Hazard

High-Powered Magnet Toys sold by DynoCube are being recalled.

High-powered magnet desk toys, sold by DynoCube and sold exclusively online at Amazon.com are being recalled for an ingestion hazard. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission recall, "When two or more magnets are swallowed, they can link together inside a child's intestines and clamp onto body tissues, causing intestinal obstructions, perforations, sepsis and death. Internal injury from magnets can pose serious lifelong health effects." While there have been no reported incidents in connection with the DynoCube magnets, there have been 80 reports of incidents involving ingestion with other high powered magnets, including 79 that required seeking medical intervention. Dog Treats Recalled for Possible Mold

The FDA is recalling dog treats sold at PetSmart because of a mold risk.

  The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall for dog treats sold at PetSmart stores in Pennsylvania and 35 other states. The recall applies to 7.5 oz. bags of DogCandy® Holiday Hound Cake and Blueberry Hound Cake because the cakes have the potential to become moldy.   The FDA reports that the recall applies to a single production run and packed in a 7.5 ounce paw print bag marked with a best by date of 08-2015. The “best by” date can be found on the ingredient label on the back of the package just above the UPC bar code.  Mold was found on several cakes after they were delivered to the stores.  Under investigation the company discovered that the cakes contained higher moisture content due to the product being packaged while …

RECALL: Cordless Drills for Fire and Burn Hazards

Harbor Freight is recalling cordless drills for fire and burn hazard.

Harbor Freight Tools is recalling cordless drills sold at Harbor Freight Tools stores nationwide for fire and burn hazards. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission recall, the black trigger switch on the 19.2 volt cordless drill can overheat and pose a fire and burn hazard to consumers. There has been one report of the drill overheating and burning through the handle of the unit. The drills were sold between April 2008 and May 2012. Consumers should stop using the drills immediately and remove the  rechargeable battery and contact  Harbor Freight Tools to receive a free replacement. RECALL: 5,000 Pounds of Frozen Chicken Dinners Recalled, Possible Listeria

The product sold in local Trader Joe's stores is considered ready-to-eat and subject to pathogen testing since the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service has zero-tolerance for pathogens.
