Neighbors of Phoenixville's Mark Kawchak say he took pictures of them, and their undergarments, without permission.
A 50-year-old Phoenixville man who allegedly broke into his neighbors’ homes to satisfy an apparent underwear fetish had his bail raised to $100,000 and was remanded to Chester County Prison by a district judge on Thursday, The Phoenix is reporting. According to the paper, Judge Theodore P. Michaels raised the bail after determining, based on testimony from the father of one of Mark Nicholas Kawchak’s victims, that the defendant had violated the conditions of his initial release, which barred him from having any contact with his victims. Kawchak violated these terms, according to the victim’s father, on three separate occasions. A 23-year-old Phoenixville man is in Chester County Prison after he engaged area police in a nearly two-hour standoff from his Continental Drive home, Schuylkill Township Police said. Though Antonio Girifalco was heavy armed during the standoff and threatened to shoot himself, family members and authorities, according to police, there were no injuries reported. On March 8, Schuylkill Township Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Continental Drive for a report of a loud verbal dispute between two men. According to court documents, while the officers were en route, they received an update that a gunshot had been fired. A 50-year-old Phoenixville man faces multiple felony charges after police say he took sexually suggestive video of women in his neighborhood without their consent, and, on several occasions, broke into nearby homes to take photographs of bras and underwear. Two men and their underage daughters went to the Schuylkill Township Police Department to report suspicious behavior in the neighborhood on Nov. 23 of 2012, according to court documents. A 32-year-old Devon man was arrested for DUI on South Whitehorse Road last week, Schuylkill Township Police are reporting. According to court documents, on Feb. 20 at 9:35 p.m., police saw a black Audi traveling 15 mph under the speed limit on the 400 block of South Whitehorse Road and swerving. When the officer stopped the vehicle, he noted the man had glassy eyes and betrayed other signs of intoxication. The driver said he had had two beers that night, police said. The man then took and failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and taken to Phoenixville Hospital to have blood drawn for testing. He was charged with DUI. A Phoenixville woman was arrested for DUI last weekend after police say she, for reasons that are unclear, drove her car onto and got stuck on railroad tracks. Kimberly Anne Reese, 26, faces charges of three counts of DUI and an additional count of careless driving stemming from the December 1 incident. According to court documents, a witness told Schuylkill Township Police that he saw Reese drive onto the tracks near the intersection of Charlestown Road and Pothouse Road sometime before 5:20 p.m. and become stuck. An Ohio man was hit with multiple DUI charges over the weekend after police say he was driving recklessly in the borough. Ramon Sanchez, 54, faces four counts of DUI and a count each of disregarding his traffic lane and careless driving stemming from the November 24 incident. According to court documents, a Schuylkill Township Police officer witnessed Sanchez swerve several times in his pickup truck that evening, finally pulling him over on the 1000 block of West Bridge Street at 2:02 a.m. The officer, upon speaking with Sanchez, noted he smelled like alcohol and has bloodshot eyes. A Phoenixville man was arrested for DUI and drug charges last weekend after a traffic stop yielded a glass pipe in his car, Schuylkill Township Police are reporting. Scott Matthew Patrick, 26, faces charges of careless driving, disregarding his traffic lane, possession of drug paraphernalia, and five counts of DUI stemming from the September 30 incident. According to court documents, Patrick was traveling westbound on the 1200 block of Valley Forge Road at 3:09 a.m. that morning when he, at least twice, swerved across the double yellow line and into the oncoming lane.
